My turn to ask

When I got engaged I knew exactly who I was going to ask to be in my bridal party. It was a no brainer, I've known for years. What I really needed to figure out was how I was going to ask them.

First thing to do, check out Etsy. I love shopping on Etsy because I can always find the perfect unique gift. So I searched "Bridesmaids Proposal" on Etsy and found some really cute stuff. I decided I wanted to go with a personalized card and group shirts.

I went through a lot, but finally decided on what I believe is the perfect card from CambridgeCityLimits - "Help me keep my shit together?" I was able to personalize the hairstyles and robes. There were 24 different hairstyles and 3 skin tones to chose from. I decided to put the girls' roles in the wedding on the back of each robe. The cards were blank inside so I was able to write a personalized note to each girl asking them to be in my wedding. (You can find the card I purchased from CambridgeCityLimits here.)

For the shirts, I found something that simple and so me! My Bridesmaids' shirts say "The Party" and my shirt says "Wife of The Party." All of my friends know that I love to dance and have a good time. I'm always the first person on the dance floor and forcing my friends to join me (but I will dance by myself if I have to.....). I wound up going with the same color shirts that were pictured on Etsy - Maroon for me and Grey for my Bridesmaids. I know I could have gone with the color scheme of my wedding, but at the time I wasn't completely positive what that was going to be and I really liked the combination when I saw them online. (You can find the shirts I purchased from jCUBEDk here.)

I knew I wanted to get my bridesmaids more than a shirt, but I wasn't sure what else to get them. I wanted to give them something they would actually use and actually like. While deciding which bath bomb to use one day, I decided that I wanted to get one for my bridesmaids. I'm a huge lush junkie - I love my bath bombs and giving others bath bombs brings me lots of joy (so I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner). Pretty much every time I go to the mall, I wind up in lush purchasing a new one (or two or three, lets keep that between us though and not my fiance). I decided that I wanted to get them the Goddess bath bomb, because all of my bridesmaids are Goddesses. (Check it out here!)

As a last little gift, I got each girl a mini bottle of champagne. I thought it added a cute little touch. Now I needed to figure out what to put them in. I didn't want to go with a bag; I wanted to give them something useful. I decided that a box similar to the one I store my bath bombs in, would be a good idea. So I headed to AC Moore. I was able to find some really cute boxes, but there weren't five of them in the same style. I was upset that they weren't all going to match at first, but I got over it. In the end think they turned out perfectly. I just hope all my bridesmaids liked them as much as I did.

I was pretty positive that all my bridesmaids would say yes when I asked them, but it was definitely a relief that they actually all did.

**To save some extra money, I used my Ibotta App when shopping. This enabled me to get a small percentage of cash back on my purchase by launching Etsy through Ibotta. You can use it for an array of purchases and it's a great way to earn money just for purchasing what you normally would. If you aren't already using it, check it out and make sure you use my code qevwcdy if you sign up!**

Finding the right vendors

When we started looking for vendors, I scoured the internet but mostly I was planning on relying o recommendations from friends. Turns out this wasn't as great a plan as it sounds. Although I was able to get some great recommendations, we kept thinking we could find a better price. We stayed diligent and were able to find great vendors at a fraction of the cost of what some others had paid. So the best advice I can give you is to keep looking until you find a great vendor at the right price. It may seem impossible but it's not! When it came to our photographer, I knew exactly who I wanted. This amazing photographer that is the sister-in-law of my Fiance's best man. I've had my heart set on them photographing my wedding since I met them and started following their page. I was warned that they were pricey, but when I inquired and found out just how pricey my mouth dropped. There was no way we could possibly afford them, their cheapest package started around $5,000. I ...

PSA!

Something I'd like to share with everyone, in case you didn't know because you just never bothered to look into it like me - apparently FabFitFun does giveaways! I've been getting my boxes for almost a year now, and I've just noticed this now.... it's very unfortunate especially since this stuff is great. Their giveaways this season are ranging from $140 to $915, which doesn't include the trip giveaway.  I recently learned from my friend that I could customize my boxes - I know I'm terrible I really need to look into what I'm purchasing here because I'm missing out on perks. I'm sad I didn't pick out a couple of the things because I wish I could enter those giveaways. There's probably a good possibility that I could still, but when there's a hint that you should include the product of the brand doing the giveaways, it makes you feel like maybe you should skip that one. I'm excited! Let me just apologize now for my Instagram ...

What's the bravest thing you've done recently?

The bravest thing I've done recently is to confront a "friend" about lies she's told about me and how I feel about our friendship. If you read my earlier blog post "To invite or not to invite?" you may remember the friend I'm referring to. For those that didn't or need a recap - here's a little back story:  In 2013 on of my former best friends asked if I'd be interested in temping at the bank she was temping at. I jumped at the opportunity and was very grateful. At the time I did not have a car and was working at a daycare making very little so I was unable to save the money I needed to purchase a new one. We lived within five minutes of each other so we would car pool. Her sister that also worked with us created a payment system -  at first the three of us car pooled with her sister driving, we would each give her $30 a week, then when she got a car of her own and it was just the two of us driving, I would pay her $35 a week for gas. I ...
